Nearby Griffiss Airport provides approach control for the area and is reachable by radio minutes after take-off. Griffiss is just 35 road miles from Old Forge and will accommodate larger aircraft on its 10,000-foot runway. Seaplanes can fly in to much location along the Fulton Chain of Lakes and service is available at Payne’s Seaplane base just to the north of town.

The airport is just one mile off of NY Route 28, so the property is secluded yet very accessible. The property is adjacent to both the Old Forge Snowmobile Trail System and the Moose River Scenic Canoe Route. There are over 500 miles of snowmobile trails in the system and through connections with adjacent systems you can ride as far as the Canadian Border. The Moose River is Protected as a Scenic and Recreation River by New York State. The put in point at the end of the road allows for easy access for day trips or the start point for a weeklong adventure.

The Fulton Chain of lakes and the McCauley Mountain Ski Center is just a mile away. The Chain of lakes offers power boating, fishing, sailing, water skiing, float plane flying and many more activities. In the winter months, the lakes are used for snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross-country skiing and skating. A boat launch and boat rentals are available on Old Forge Pond. The Ski Center is just south of town on the north side of McCauley Mountain. The area is great family hill that provides great beginners slopes as well as several expert slopes. The Chalet has ski rental, a ski shop and restaurant.
